According to Diario Gol, Tottenham are interested in bringing Gareth Bale back to the club, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez desperate to offload the Welshman.
What’s the Story?
Following a disastrous start to Real Madrid’s latest campaign, Gareth Bale is reportedly surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu, and Tottenham are ready to make a bid to lure the Welshman, who is valued at £72million by Transfermarkt, back to his former club.
However, Madrid’s president Florentino Perez will accept no less £80million for the 28-year-old, and Tottenham will not be looking to spend any more than £55million for their former star.
How good has Bale been this season?
If the Welshman were at any other club than Real Madrid, the start to his season would perhaps be under no scrutiny. However, the expectant club have been unimpressed with Bale, who has actually faced jeers from his own fans at the Bernabeu.
To compound the former Spurs star’s misery he has been out of action for the last month with injuries and is set for a few more weeks on the sidelines.
Unfortunately, his time in the famous white of Madrid may be coming to a disappointing end.
Would Bale be a good signing for Tottenham?
While the bullish attitude of some Tottenham fans regarding a move for Bale is understandable, the Welshman is still one of the best players in the world.
Adding him to the phenomenal squad that Mauricio Pochettino is already building would turn Spurs from ‘nearly men’ in the Premier League to genuine Champions League contendors.
