Sheffield Wednesday’s U23 squad were in action earlier this week and the return of one man, in particular, hasn’t gone down too well with fans at the club.
The likes of club captain Tom Lees, club-record signing Jordan Rhodes and Jordan Thorniley all featured as they drew 1-1 with Barnsley on Monday afternoon.
There was also a return for defender Ash Baker, who played his first 45 minutes since suffering a groin injury, but some sections of the Hillsborough faithful hope a berth in the senior side isn’t soon on the horizon.

One supporter questioned whether it was a wind up as journalist Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star posed the question on whether they would like to see him back amongst Monk’s first-team.
Another member of the Wednesday crowd claimed the 23-year-old was League One standard at best while one more added that he would only be good enough for a Sunday pub team.
The overriding consensus was that the right-back shouldn’t be in contention anytime soon.
