According to a report in The S*n, the position of Everton director of football Marcel Brands could be under threat if the club does indeed appoint Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the report says that majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has promised the 60-year-old “executive authority” in the running of the Merseyside outfit, with the Italian demanding that he was given a major say in the buying and selling of players.

The latter is of course something that Brands was originally brought to Goodison Park to do, with Richarlison, Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean just some of the additions he has helped the Toffees make since arriving in the summer of 2018.

The report adds that Brands and chairman Bill Kenwright were keen to bring in David Moyes as a safe pair of hands with the side lying just three points above the relegation zone as things stand.
Could Brands go?
It’s difficult to say, but you have to feel that if these promises Moshiri has made are true, that he is undermining the 57-year-old.
The S*n reports that Ancelotti was sacked by Napoli earlier this month following a number of bust-ups with Aurelio De Laurentiis, and he will need to have a better working relationship with Brands on Merseyside if the club are to progress.
