Spurs were always likely to dip into the transfer market after Vicario was ruled out for a significant time. Fraser Forster has struggled in place of the Italian, notably with the ball at his feet. Kinsky is a highly-rated 21-year-old and is known for his extravagance with the ball, often coming high and level with his centre-halves – far more suited to Ange Postecoglou's style of football than Forster.

Vicario revealed that he played 60 minutes with a broken ankle against Manchester City, making five saves in that time. Spurs tore City apart and won the game 4-0, but the Italian's injury has created longer-term pain for Postecoglou.
