Former Liverpool assistant manager Lijnders is wanted by City as Pep Guardiola looks to overhaul his coaching team. Carlos Vicens, Juanma Lillo and Inigo Dominguez have all left the Etihad Stadium recently and claim Jurgen Klopp's old right-hand man is wanted by their old rivals.

Lijnders left Anfield at the same time as Klopp to take the Salzburg job, but he was dismissed from his post in late 2024 and has been on gardening leave ever since. He was a key part of Klopp's backroom staff as the Reds claimed Champions League and Premier League trophies.

City are also considering promoting Toure, who had a spell at Liverpool as a player, to the senior coaching team. The former Ivory Coast defender has been coaching City's academy sides and previously had a short stint as Wigan manager, winning none of his nine games in charge.
