Milan is currently eighth in the Serie A table, which could rule them out of the European places entirely. Their European misadventure was cut short when they lost 2-1 to Feyenoord on aggregate in the knockout stage of the Champions League. Milan's saving grace this season has been the Supercoppa Italiana, where they came back from 2-0 down against Inter to win 3-2 thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Tammy Abraham. However, fans have been disgruntled with the team, especially after arch-rivals Inter Milan reached the final of the Champions League.
WHAT FURLANI SAID
Furlani started off by congratulating Bologna, “First of all, let me congratulate Bologna on this historic achievement”. He then gave his verdict on what he thought of Milan’s current season: “We can’t deny it, this is a failed season. Despite the victory in the Super Cup, we are far from the goals we had set ourselves.”
Echoing the fans, he spoke about the future, “We share the disappointment of the fans. Various mistakes have been made, and we will have to look ahead and correct them to get back to where we, the managers and the fans, expect to be.”
